Personal Statement:

On this site, "The Healing Trees", I want to impress the reader with the importance of Trees as Living Beings with whom we share this Earth. I want to show how much Trees can and do give to us. I feel this is important at a time when many Trees are threatened by the environmental changes of the times.

I have been studying and researching the healing and edible properties of Trees for more than twenty years. I have taught children about this and related subjects while teaching at The School of The Earth (Davenport, CA), The Whale School (Albion, CA), The Killaloe Alternative School (Killaloe, ON) and The Living School (Wilno, ON). I have also given a professional workshop on the subject at The Killaloe Craft and Community Fair (Killaloe, ON).

I wrote a bi-weekly series of articles based on my research for "The Laker," a weekly newspaper in Golden Lake, ON. Articles about Trees, by my hand, have also been published in "This Week in The Madawaska Valley" in Barry's Bay, ON, "The Community News and Confuse," a Killaloe, ON quarterly newsletter, and "Grub." a quarterly newsletter from Bancroft, ON.

I have found the general population, both young and old, to be extremely interested in learning more about the local environment, and especially in learning more about local trees.

I live on a 100 acre farm that is well populated by Trees. My main sources of livelihood derive from working with Living Trees and with crafting Tree products. I prune apple orchards, dig, plant and prune baby trees at a mail-order tree nursery. I also handcraft musical instruments, the Native American Flute, the mountain dulcimer, the Kantela lap harp, and drums, using local Ontario woods.

I have talked with many herbalists about this book. All have expressed great interest in having a copy of the book and in seeing it available to the general public. These herbalists include the President and members of the Ontario Herbalist Association, and several teaching herbalists in Nev England. Two Societies for reforesting the Earth have also told me of their desire to see and advertise The Healing Trees. The International Permaculture Species Yearbook has asked me to write an article for their publication, and would like to advertise the book for free.
